Shari Powell, Founder and Principal, draws on her life-long experience in market research, marketing, education, and financial planning, as well as working with youth and parenting to create a positive, personalized college search process.

Prior to Creating College Options a decade ago, Shari worked at Princeton University as an outside admissions reader and as an alumni interviewer for Tufts University. Shari holds an MBA in Market Research from the Wharton School. Her professional experience in Marketing and Market Research with firms such as Merrill Lynch and Opinion Research lets her create a unique, stand-out positioning for each student’s application.

Shari is passionate about the power of education to enrich lives and is a staunch advocate for education. Over nearly a decade as President and Fundraising Chair for the Princeton Education Foundation, Shari secured significant private funding to support public schools. Her strategic communication plan for Princeton Public Schools’ $81 million bond referendum won a state award for communication excellence.

Shari loves working with teens; her significant involvement with youth organizations, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTOs, and sports teams provides a wealth of ideas and opportunities for her students. Shari seeks to create great, best-fit college options for her students!
