Renee Lurie, Intl. IEC – Go Global Education
International Independent Educational Consultant | Global University Admissions Advisor (Latin America)
As of 2023, I am the first Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association based in Costa Rica, advising globally oriented students pursuing international undergraduate education. I specialize in personalized international college counseling, tailoring guidance to each student’s academic profile, career interests, and financial considerations.
I support students throughout the global university admissions process, including career exploration, university and program research, high school course selection, extracurricular planning, university selection, application development, essay coaching, scholarship guidance, and gap-year advising. My approach is highly individualized, ensuring each student builds a compelling and authentic application aligned with their academic strengths, career goals, and global opportunities. My work focuses on helping students build competitive, well-positioned applications to universities across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and other European systems.
I began my career in 2011 as a school-based university advisor, where I designed and implemented a comprehensive College Preparatory Program. I expanded my expertise by earning a UCLA Graduate Certificate in College Counseling (2014) and have remained actively engaged in the profession through university fly-ins, international conferences, and professional presentations. I am also a member of the International Association for College Admission Counseling and a co-founder of both the Costa Rican Association of College Admissions Counselors and the Costa Rican Independent Educational Consultants organization.
In 2019, I founded Renee Lurie, Intl. IEC, Go Global Education, an independent educational consulting practice serving students across Latin America and globally. I provide impartial, ethical advice and do not accept commissions from universities, ensuring that all recommendations are made solely in each student’s best interest.
I work extensively with international and dual-citizenship students, many of whom apply to U.S. institutions under F-1 visa status and require nuanced strategies across multiple admissions systems. I guide students in evaluating academic eligibility, developing strong extracurricular profiles, and creating balanced, strategic university lists.
Additionally, I am the founder and principal administrator of the Facebook professional group for Spain Higher Education Counseling and Admissions Professionals, supporting counselors and students navigating the Spanish admissions system, including UNEDasiss and PCE requirements.
My students have gained admission to their best-fit universities worldwide, supported by strategic positioning, strong storytelling, and a deep understanding of international admissions systems, including UNEDasiss (Spain) and UCAS (UK). I am a certified British Council Counselor # 67113, and a holistic admissions expert in the U.S.
I am a proud long-time member of the Caribbean and Latin American Network and country co-ambassador for Costa Rica.
