Dr. Xuefei (Rebecca) Yuan is the founder of Butterfly Consulting Group (BCG), an educational consulting firm serving students (K -12th grade) and families in the United States and China. After receiving her B.S. in Mathematics from Zhejiang University, Rebecca pursued her Ph.D. in the department of Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics (APAM) with Fu Foundation Chair Professor David E. Keyes at Columbia University and Professor Stephen C. Jardin at Princeton University. Her research interest focused on High Performance Computing (HPC) and computational plasma physics and worked years for Department of Energy (DOE) as a researcher for Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) at Princeton University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL) at UC Berkeley, and National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC). Her interest extends to Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) with applications in the financial industry such as High Frequency Trading (HFT) while working for several major banks after leaving DOE. Dr. Yuan is also the vice principal of Charlotte Chinese Academy (CCA), a nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)) serving American/Chinese families in North Carolina. From 2007, Rebecca started to help students for the interview preparation for the school applications. She analyzes educational needs for clients and provides step-by-step guidance with expertise on school list building up, extracurricular activities design, essay writing, interview preparation, and etc. She works directly with students and stimulates them to discover and overcome their shortcomings, enhances their ability in time management and stress releasing, provides them extensive networking resources, and improves their confidence and independence.
