I enjoy getting to know my students to help them find colleges where they will thrive, while also guiding them to create college applications that demonstrate their strengths. Through numerous meetings and resources, I help students choose high school courses and extracurricular activities, build a thoughtful college list, brainstorm and write essays, and complete their college applications on time. I have worked with a wide range of students from those with strong academic and extracurricular profiles aiming for selective colleges to those with learning differences (e.g., autism, ADHD, processing disorders), who benefit from additional support. In addition, I work with transfer and homeschool students to help them navigate the unique requirements of their applications.
I visit 30-40 colleges per year to learn their unique characteristics, so I can help students build a thoughtful college list. As a member of 51³Ô¹Ï, NACAC, and PCACAC, I regularly attend webinars to stay up to date on the evolving admissions landscape, such as changes in admissions policies, campus developments, and financial trends. I earned a UCLA College Counseling certificate with distinction and have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology.
Before becoming a college counselor, I homeschooled my children through high school (including one with a learning difference) and helped them successfully navigate the college planning process. I also spent 15 years as a user interface design consultant to technology companies and government agencies.
